In Glyndebourne’s 2019 production of “Die Zauberflöte,” the Queen of the Night was portrayed as a suffragette, symbolizing her rebellion against male dominance. The production’s promotional artwork featured a painted collage of the Queen, with kitchen knives radiating from her, reflecting her vengeful intentions. This distinctive visual style, achieved through painted collage, provided a cohesive and memorable identity for the 2019 season.
